Traditional Choc-Chip Cookies

Ingredients

  • 125g butter (softened)
  • 150g brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla essence
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup self-raising flour
  • 1 cup dark chocolate bits

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.

  2. Line two baking trays with baking paper.

  3. Place the butter, sugar and vanilla in a bowl and beat with an electric mixer for 3 minutes until fluffy.

  4. Add the egg and beat until combined.

  5. Fold in flour, then chocolate bits.

  6. Roll heaped teaspoon measures of the mixture into balls and place them on the prepared baking trays. Flatten the balls slightly with a fork coated in flour.

  7. Bake in the oven for 15-17 minutes, until golden, swapping the trays on the shelves after 10 minutes.

  8. Cool on a wire rack.
